Free Quilt Block Pattern: Itty Bitty Sawtooth Stars

Free Quilt Block Pattern: Itty Bitty Sawtooth Stars

Four Sawtooth Star quilt blocks arranged near a plant with bright pink flowers on a bed of rocks

The very first "real" quilt I made start-to-finish on my own was a Sawtooth Star sampler quilt. I have always loved that quilt and still snuggle with it almost daily.  When I started thinking about writing patterns that worked for quilters of all backgrounds and skill levels, I immediately thought of sawtooth stars.

This new FREE pattern is for quilting newbies, anyone looking for a quick escape, or for other sawtooth star lovers like me. It's written for a true beginner but is fun for all skill levels. There are nine options for the square at the center of each star, plus two bonus variations. You can make one Itty Bitty Sawtooth Star or all eleven!

These blocks finish at 4" x 4" and can be quilted and bound to use as coasters, combined and quilted into a place mat, incorporated into other projects, or -- if you make lots of them -- combined into a full quilt top which I think would be stunning!
